Other events at The Wilds this Summer

The Summer Series begins and ends with two major art installations. These events are brought to you by BRL in partnership with world-renowned artists, and local organisations.

Growing Riversiders, July 2021

In July, 400 plants grown by the local community were pieced together to create a large-scale pop-up artwork at The Wilds. Images for the artwork were designed by local people.
Growing Riversiders is a collaboration between internationally-renowned artist Ling Tan, Lumen Art Projects, Creative Barking and Dagenham, and Acre Landscapes.

The artwork has been unveiled to the public on Saturday 24th July 2021 as part of the launch festival. It can still be viewed during the Thursday Lates on 26th July, 5th August and 9th August from 6pm to 8 pm. Come to enjoy the garden at The Wilds and try delicious wraps and snacks from the local food truck.

Gaia at The Wilds: an art work installation on planet earth

Barking Riverside are partnering with Creative Barking and Dagenham to present Gaia, by UK artist Luke Jerram.

Measuring seven metres in diameter, this awe-inspiring artwork gives the opportunity to see our planet in large scale, floating in three dimensions.
The artwork can be viewed on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th September as part of the Open House 2021 programme. More information will be released soon.

Find out more about Gaia at my-earth.org.
